The Cesky Terrier is a rare, elegant terrier breed from the Czech Republic, originally developed by crossing a Sealyham Terrier and Scottish Terrier for hunting in dense forests. Unlike many terriers, Ceskys are more laid-back and adaptable, making them great companions for families and apartment dwellers. Their soft, wavy coat doesn’t shed much, but it does need regular grooming, brushing, and trimming to maintain its shape and prevent mats. They are intelligent and trainable, often excelling in obedience, agility, and earthdog trials.
The Cesky Terrier, also known as the Czech Terrier or Bohemian Terrier, is a relatively modern breed developed in Czechoslovakia in 1948. Its creation is credited to František Horák, a Czech breeder and geneticist who aimed to produce a versatile hunting dog that was also well-suited for family life.
