The Kai Ken, also known as the Tora Inu ("Tiger Dog") for its striking brindle coat, is a rare and ancient Japanese hunting breed. Bred to navigate mountains and track game like deer and wild boar, Kai Kens are alert, agile, and deeply loyal to their families. They are often reserved with strangers but make devoted, calm companions at home.
Their dense double coat requires regular brushing, especially during seasonal shedding periods. Though intelligent and willing, Kai Kens are independent by nature, so training should start early with positive reinforcement, patience, and clear leadership.
