The Lapponian Herder is a calm yet capable Nordic herding breed, originally used by the indigenous Sami people for herding and managing reindeer. This breed is loyal, hardworking, and intelligent, with a strong desire to bond closely with its handler and perform meaningful tasks.
Their dense double coat offers excellent protection in harsh climates but sheds heavily, particularly in spring and fall. Regular brushing is essential to manage loose fur and prevent matting. Lapponian Herders are responsive to training, excel in obedience and herding trials, and thrive on mental challenges and physical activity.
