Origins: The breed originated in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1928. Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez began with the Cordoba Fighting Dog, a now-extinct breed known for its strength and tenacity but also its aggression. He methodically crossbred it with several other breeds, including the Great Dane, Boxer, Bull Terrier, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound, Pyrenean Mastiff, and Spanish Mastiff. His goal was to retain the Cordoba Fighting Dog's bravery while introducing stability, size, and hunting instinct.
Development: After years of selective breeding and refinement, Dr. Martinez achieved his vision: a dog with strength, endurance, courage, and a stable temperament.
