The Lancashire Heeler is a compact and lively herding and vermin-control breed from England, often described as a “big dog in a small body.” Developed to herd cattle and hunt rats, this cheerful, alert little dog has a strong work ethic and a big personality.
Their short, low-maintenance coat sheds moderately, especially in spring and fall, and needs only occasional brushing. They are intelligent, quick to learn, and enjoy training sessions, games, and outdoor adventures. Though small, they need daily physical and mental exercise, and early socialization and training help curb any tendency toward overprotectiveness or stubbornness.
