The Bouvier des Ardennes is a rare herding breed originating from the Ardennes region in southern Belgium. Historically, these dogs were bred for their versatility and robustness, excelling in herding cattle, sheep, pigs, and even horses. Their history dates back centuries, but the breed faced near extinction in the 20th century due to changes in farming practices and declining livestock populations.
