The Peruvian Inca Orchid (PIO) is an ancient and elegant sighthound breed from Peru, prized for its loyalty, grace, and unique appearance. Most are hairless, though a coated variety exists, and they come in three sizes, making them one of the most diverse breeds in terms of body type.
Hairless PIOs require special skin care (moisturizing, sun protection, and warmth in cold weather), but they are non-shedding and considered hypoallergenic. These dogs are devoted and affectionate with their families, but can be reserved or wary with strangers. With their keen intelligence and athleticism, they do well in obedience and dog sports, and enjoy daily walks and mental stimulation.
